Well, it's the Monday after a week of Thanksgiving Break and the one comment that you hear (frequently) is:
"There's only three (3) weeks to Christmas Break". Oh yeah!
It is wonderful to see the students! The Library is very quiet and I have spent the majority of the day on the computer. Lots of email to read!

Third Post
Going forward it is my hope to incorporate many of the things that I have learned in this class into the things I do at my library. I already want to use the wiki for scheduling (?) or sharing information with students and staff. I intend on using the blog to encourage our students to comment abount books they are reading or possible suggestions for ordering. The video is a must use for Library Orientation (so that I don't have to say the same thing over and over and ensures that each class will hear the same information. The video would also be great for teaching how to use databases. Google reader can be used to keep me current on a variety of topics relating to the library and the glog can be embedded into my library's website as a quick way of finding what students frequently ask questions about. I feel amazingly empowered as a result of all that I have learned in this class.

Book Review
Of course, my book review of the most recent book I have read!
This is the third or fourth book by Pearl Cleage that I have read and it is the one that I most closely identify with. Ms. Cleage has a wonderfully easy and entertaining writing style. Some chapters are long while others are no more that two (2) pages (I found this a very interesting way of expressing any of the changes in the book, whether the change related to one of the characters, the setting or the action.
This is the story of two women's lives (a grandmother and her grandaughter) where they diverge and where they meet. Josephine Evans is a woman who pursues her love and passion for acting outside the United States because of real or perceived racism. She lives the typical expatriate artist's life in Sweden along with her best friend, Howard, a gay African American man. She loses her very successful life because of American politics in Iraq and Afghanistan and Bush politics.
Seen It All and Done the Rest is a continuation of one of Ms. Cleage's previous stories about her character, Blue and the urban neighborhood located in Atlanta that has been reclaimed from urban decay, crack addicts and greedy real estate speculators that plagues many urban neighborhoods.
It is a great read and would make a wonderful Lifetime movie.

It was a really busy day today at work and with the West Secondary Learning Community Librarian's meeting at Cary Middle School.
I really enjoyed the meeting, ladies! Kudos to Donna Mays, Carol Harris (for her wonderful new library and new principal) and Merri Lynn Alexander (for all the new computer stuff)!
It's fun to be a librarian!

My Second Post
This is the second week of the Seven Things Online 2.0 class. I have a few frustrations but am enjoying the class.
I spent Saturday afternoon with my lovely grandson. What a charming and welcome distraction! He is my favorite past time right now.

My First Blog Post
Setting up both the Wiki and the Blog has been a wonderful experience for me. I have learned a lot as a result of each assignment.
In answer to the Week One question, a wiki and blog seem to be very similar; however, interestingly enough you can add a link to your blog on your wiki. A blog seems a little less static than a wiki. My blog has a lot more room for editing and updating constantly than the wiki. That may not be true but it doles seem that way to me. I noticed that I names my blog incorrectly, so I have had to change that. I know we use the wiki to provide information in LMS. My impression of blogs is a little more negative in that they have more ongoing information. It has been fun to work on both at the same time.
